The Christmas Eve Concern: The United Nations Arms Trade Treaty and Executive Action by Barack Obama

On Christmas Eve 2014, the UN Arms Trade Treaty goes into effect. John Kerry signed that treaty. Knowing that ratification by the Senate (two-thirds vote) is unlikely, I would suggest, however, that we watch the left hand, which in this case is Barack Obama’s propensity to Executive Order anything into being that he chooses. Also remember that Congress refuses to constrain Obama and no one will be watching on December 24th. They will instead be wrapping dollar store presents.

Under "General Implementation," Article 5 of the Arms Trade Treaty states that all signatory nations (we are a signatory nation thanks to John Kerry) "shall establish and maintain a national control system, including a national control list."

Let us remember that the right to keep and bear arms was devised to ensure a way to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government. Let us also remember that our constitution has been eviscerated, and that “law” is whatever the one percent and their personal president wants it to be. If in doubt, ask America’s soldiers or militarized policing forces.  Ask them about the intention to disarm the American public. Their silence is deafening.

Should Obama make this holiday move, the “line” as he himself has identified, will have been crossed. And “change” will, indeed, be at hand. Happy “holiday”.
