We discussed at length the dangers of the Trans Pacific Partnership, a trade agreement being negotiated in absolute secrecy. While Congress and the American people are being kept in the dark, 600 corporate representatives have a seat at the negotiating table. Among other things, the pact would be a total attack upon national sovereignty, allowing corporations to undermine national laws and regulations by suing in an international tribunal if they think those laws or regulations could interfere with their businesses. Also, discussed is TAFTA, the brand new Trans Atlantic Free Trade Agreement that the United States is currently negotiating with the European Union, also in secret. In the third hour, we take several phone calls.
